| Name: | Ikuko Tsukino |
|---|---|
| Birthdate: | 1960-10-15 |
Name; Ni

Character Name; Ikuko Tsukino
Series/Fandom; Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon/PGSM
Personality; If there was anyone in the world who doubted where Usagi Tsukino, the superheroine main character, got her extraverted nature, her (mostly) carefree attitude and love of clothing and hairstyles, one would only have to meet her mother. Ikuko is an enthusiastic, bombastic, artistic and quirky individual who is a teenager at heart, who enjoys the spotlight and has flights of fantasy and dreams of being a famous star, unwittingly striking poses similar to those her daughter uses in battle. Nevertheless, under her devil-may-care attitude is a woman who nevertheless loves her children and will protect and guide them through life. She also loves and will befriend those who love life and having fun, no matter who or what they are.
Strengths/Abilities; Ikuko's greatest strength is probably that of her daughter's - her personality. The life of a party type, Ikuko is someone with the capability of making even the most hostile, anti-social person talk to her about any topic - such is her zeal for life and tolerance for others. She is also, underneath her squealing and teasing, a very good listener, and knows how to get people to open up to her. One might be forgiven for thinking that the whole 'past life' situation could have been solved by having Ikuko inviting everyone to teppanyaki.
Also, despite her primary job as being the housewife, Ikuko shows an ability to do other jobs, if she chose to. Fashion design, acting, cooking (and especially omlettes - at least when the omlette is done with conservative ingredients), make-up and hairstylist, even videogamer - Ikuko has shown herself able or implied to be able to do these things on her own without anyone's help.
Weaknesses; The biggest weakness of Ikuko is that she's a normal human, and thus susceptible to any and all magic and powers that might target her. Her quirky nature can also sometimes be off-putting to people and seen as downright wierd and annoying, especially when a serious situation arises or Ikuko perseverates on something that is interesting to her. Giving people cute-sounding nicknames is one of these things that tend to have people confused.
Her cooking can also use some help, particularly when she decides to 'experiment' with omlette ingredients. The only person who even remotely likes Ikuko's 'experimenting' or can eat it without revulsion or sickness is Usagi; most others do not agree that blueberry and pineapple are complimentary ingredients in anything let alone an omlette.
Another thing that she won't admit publicly is that she had rather horrible eyesight, as well as astigmatism. She wears custom contacts, and without them - or soda-cap-thick glasses - it's difficult for her to see much in front of her face without them being large, fuzzy blobs. She can't even recognize her own daughter (or any, for example, disguised as her daughter) without aid.
Background; Ikuko Tsukino is a thirty-something housewife married to a newspaper reporter and photographer, Kenji Tsukino. Though he was often away on assignments, they had two children together - a girl named Usagi, and a boy named Shingo. They were all quite happy together, and they lived comfortably at House 4.20 in the Juuban district.
Sometime after Usagi turned fourteen, many strange things began to happen. Some claimed that monsters were appearing in town, and reports of robberies, attacks and the like began to be heard on the radio. But there were people handling it - namely the superheroine Sailor V, followed by other girls known as the sailor senshi. Ikuko herself had never seen the sailor senshi save for the reports on television, nor did she ever suspect that her daughter's suddenly erratic schedule and new friends had anything to do with them. If you had told Ikuko her daughter was Sailor Moon she quite possibly would have died from laughter.
But subtly the sailor senshi affected her life, even if she didn't realize it. She met several of the sailor soldiers in their civilian forms, thinking them to be good kids (with the possible exception of Ami, whom she thought Usagi was bumming homework off of at first), and even Mio Kuroki came to her house to sign her son's chest. She got to find out about Usagi's new boyfriend and couldn't wait to meet him - after all, she never thought Usagi would have a boyfriend.
And incidentally one of her favorite singers was Minako Aino, aka Sailor V/Venus and arguably her favorite crime fighter. Through Minako's machinations she was reconnected with Minako's openly gay boss, Sugao "Shacho" Saitou - who in a previous time has been Ikuko's high school sweetheart and fellow drama club member. Though nothing came of Saitou's attempts to have Ikuko and her family break into show business, they still kept in close touch after the incident.
Sometime after the end of the world (during which Ikuko was playing video games with her son), she finally convinced Usagi to try and invite the boyfriend over. She was going shopping when the next thing she knew, she had blacked out and woke up on a ship....
